A Few Days Left

Our Story

Once upon a time...

Chapter I

A Scoop of Love

It all started with a gelato in Angel, London… followed by a pint at the local pub, as Alvaro says, all great love stories should. From there, we eased into dating: dinners, crazy golf, and meeting friends (some as early as date three - depending on who you ask, it was informal or a full ambush). Between Alvaro’s work travels and Tori battling what felt like every seasonal plague, something just clicked. It was easy, fun, and we quickly realised we’d found something special.

Chapter II

Wanderlust Hearts

Within the first few months, we discovered a shared love of travel. We started with a weekend in Romania, made our way to Lake Como not long after, and eventually wandered through the sun-soaked old towns of Croatia, still one of our favourite adventures to date. Over time, we became each other’s greatest companions, trying new restaurants, exploring new places, and diving headfirst into life together.

Chapter III

Home in Each Other

We met each other’s families, moved in together (with Tori very casually not renewing her lease and “storing” her things at Alvaro’s), and continued building a life full of laughter, traditions, and yes, trying new foods — like the time Alvaro convinced Tori to eat scorpion in Mexico City.

Chapter IV

Everyday Love

We’ve celebrated birthdays in England, Belgium, Mexico, Oman and Iceland, hosted Thanksgiving dinners in our home, and built a life grounded in curiosity, comfort, quiet routines, morning workouts (for Tori) and late nights (for Alvaro), and the kind of joy that comes from sharing the everyday. Then, on a surprise weekend away in the Cotswolds — after many, many ring links on Instagram — Alvaro proposed. He thought of every detail, knowing Tori so well he still managed to surprise her. It was everything we imagined it would be.

Chapter V

“Forever” Begins Here

Through it all, we’ve learned that the best adventures are the ones we create together. We feel incredibly lucky to have found one another — and even luckier to be surrounded by such loving friends and family from all around the world. We can’t wait to celebrate with you this spring as we say “I do” and begin the next chapter of our story.

  • Take a traditional trajinera boat ride through the canals of Xochimilco.

Mobility and Transportation

Moving around the city is easy, but avoid 7-10 am and 5-8 pm. Saturdays are traffic-heavy! On the big day, be sure to head out with plenty of time to spare.

The Metro and Metrobús are quick and budget-friendly. The Integrated Mobility Card gives access to Metro, Metrobús ($6 MXN) and Ecobici. **Important**: public transport is often crowded, keep belongings safe.

For ease and peace of mind, especially at night, it's best to use apps like Uber, Didi, or other ride services people commonly use here. Flying in? Skip street taxis and go with airport-authorized ones (you'll pay at the counter inside), or use your favorite app from the official pickup spots.

Google Maps and Waze make it easy to plan routes in real time.

Places to Visit

  • Guadalajara, Jal.

  • Mérida, Yuc.

  • Monterrey, N.L.

  • Oaxaca, Oax.

  • San Miguel de Allende, Gto.

  • Puebla, Pue.

  • Riviera Maya (Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Holbox, etc.)

  • Riviera Nayarit (Puerto Vallarta, San Blas, Sayulita, etc.)

  • Cabo San Lucas, BCS.

Health and Wellness

The city is over 2,200 m above sea level. It's common to feel tired the first few days. Drink plenty of water and avoid overexertion when you arrive. Use sunscreen every day, even if it's cloudy. Some days there is smog; if you are sensitive, check the air quality before doing outdoor activities.

Drink purified or bottled water. Do not drink from the tap. If you feel stomach upset, in any pharmacy you can get oral rehydration solutions or basic medicines.

In case of emergency, just dial 911. Most pharmacies have free medical staff on-site, and there are great private hospitals around. We do recommend traveling with active insurance—just in case!

Security and Recommendations

Condesa, Polanco, Reforma, Roma, Zona Rosa, Del Valle, Nápoles, Narvarte y Coyoacán are safe areas to stay and move around.

  • Use transport apps, especially at night.

  • Do not carry valuables in sight.

  • Keep passport and important documents in the hotel.

  • Avoid walking alone or in poorly lit streets after 10 p.m.

It is recommended to not visit areas like Tepito or La Merced without a local guide or accompaniment. Although they have cultural interest, they are not safe for unsuspecting tourists.
